10th Anniversary Celebrations of YouTube by CSI & IEEE CS & IEEE PCS at Chennai

The Computer Society of India, Chennai, IEEE Computer Society, Madras
and IEEE Professional Communication Society, Madras  celebrated the
10th Anniversary Celebrations of YouTube by Screening and having a
Discussions on “Best of YouTube” on 18th May 2015.

A select no. of video clips crowd sourced from the members of the
organising societies and supporting organisations and others were
screened. The contributors of the video clips were rewarded Rs. 250/- each.

It may be noted that this was the first programme by CSI. IEEE CS &
IEEE PCS where the content was crowd sourced.

Following the screening of videos, an open quiz on YouTube was held
and those answered the questions were rewarded with Rs. 50/= for each
correct answer.

The Internet has thrown open a whole new world of information access and it’s not just the regular educational sites we’re talking about. Even those platforms assumed to be of a frivolous, social nature are now being seen as powerful tools of education. Who would have thought Facebook, Twitter and YouTube would help you score extra in your tests?

If you ‘ve ever taken the time to sift through all of the clutter, you probably discovered that there are plenty of hidden gems buried deep within YouTube. Unfortunately, YouTube does not provide an option to download videos, which can be handy if you want to watch them when no Internet connectivity is available (such as on a plane). Fortunately, there are plenty of YouTube downloaders available.

Advanced Video Search in Plain English in You Tube

Searching videos on YouTube is simple but if you know a few tricks, it becomes even more fun and accurate. The YouTube team has considerably simplified their video search function making it easier for people to perform advanced searches on YouTube without learning any complicated syntax. Let’s look at some real-world examples:


#1. Find a specific YouTube channel
royal wedding, channel
YouTube will have numerous videos related to the royal wedding but if you are only looking for their official YouTube channel, add the word channel to your query separated by a comma.


#2. Limit your search to recently uploaded videos
oprah winfrey, this week
This will only show recent videos related to Oprah that have been uploaded to YouTube in the past week. You may also use “today” or “this month” to limit your search to videos that were uploaded in the past month.
