ICT News: IT Manpower, Staffing & Top Moves -- Aug 2011

• Infosys to recruit 25,000 for its second centre in Hyderabad at Pocharam.

• Microsoft plans to go beyond the tier-I cities to look for talent for its research work at Indian Development Centres (MSIDC) in Hyderabad and Bangalore.

• ADP India is an arm of the $9 billion US-based ADP that offers IT-based payroll, tax compliance, pre-employment services and solutions for human resources-related issues to hire 1000 in 2011.

• With the US economy downgraded, jitters are back for the Indian IT and ITeS jobs market. While the numbers are not yet intimidating, there is a fear of impending large-scale layoffs across the industry. CISCO to cut 300, IBM India layoff to affect 1000.

• BPO company, Convergys Corporation expects to add 1,000 jobs to its current strength of 12000 by Dec 2011.

• About 1,000 experts from banking, Defence, HR, marketing, education, and media are looking for gainful employment through seniroexperts.org -- a job portal for 50 plus professionals. About 141 NGOs and 117 companies have or are in the process of using this talent.

• Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy, 65, Chairman of the $6 b Infosys Ltd, after 30 years of active involvement and recently as the Chief Mentor, will retire and would become Chairman Emeritus.

• Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE Corporation has established India as its global experts resource hub and plans to have 2000 persons in two years.

• Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman and group CEO of Bharti Enterprises, was conferred the Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa), by IIT Kharagpur, for his outstanding contribution to nation building as an entrepreneur.

• Anthelio Business Technologies, an IT and healthcare BPO will hire 1,800 employees in the next 16 months, to take the total to 2,000.

• Mr Steve Jobs, quits as the CEO of Apple.
