Artificial Intelligence: Automating Decision-Making
Artificial Intelligence has exploded
throughout the last year, improving many existing technologies and solving new
problems. AI’s involvement in the open-source community should be no surprise
either, as the research from open-source AI frameworks has led to algorithms
and pre-trained machine learning and deep learning models. In the 2018 Guide to
Artificial Intelligence: Automating Decision-Making, you’ll read about the
breadth of uses cases that AI can solve, including how Apache Ignite can combat
credit card fraud. You’ll also read about the rise of predictive analytics, the
revolutionary qualities of Edge AI, and four use cases for predictive
analytics.
Big Data Fundamentals needed for a Data Engineer
Working
as a Data Engineer, you are directly connected to your data science teams and
some senior-level personnel who give you business use-cases. You have to be
involved in the complete process to gain awareness of why a particular action
should be taken. Hence, I have been reading Ross&Kimball and Krishnan for
Big Data concepts. This blog post will cover some fundamentals of the
engineering involved in Big Data.
The
Tactile Internet: A New Internet of Things
The Tactile Internet has been defined by the International Telecommunication Union in August 2014 as an Internet network featuring low latency, an extremely short transit, a high availability, high reliability and a high level of security. This technology rests on cloud computing proximity (Mobile Edge-Cloud) and the virtual or augmented reality for sensory and haptic controls. It is believed to add a new dimension to human-machine interaction by delivering a low latency enough to build real-time interactive systems.
The
new technology has been designed to operate in haptic virtual environment at
the range of almost 150 km in less than a millisecond. Such fast response time
of the transactions has additional benefit of increasing security.
Authentication is provided by the associated physical transmission and the use
of biometrics tactile systems called the “non-clonable physical functions.”
There
Will Be No Turning Back on Facial Recognition
It’s
not perfect yet, but it’s already changing the world.
Computerized
facial recognition has been in development since the 1960s. Progress was steady
but slow, though, until the recent arrival of advanced artificial neural
networks — i.e., computer systems modeled on animal brains that can recognize
patterns by processing examples — which have allowed human programmers to feed
these networks many photos of faces and then step aside while algorithms teach
themselves what faces look like and then how to tell those faces apart and
eventually how to decide if a face in one photo is the same face in a different
photo, even if that face is wearing sunglasses or makeup or a mustache or is
poorly lit or slightly blurry in one image but not the other. The more photos
an algorithm has to learn from — millions or billions, ideally — the more
accurate it becomes.
The Future Of The In-Vehicle Experience
From driver monitoring to AR-enabled heads-up displays,
we highlight the trends and technologies that will reshape the in-vehicle
experience in the coming years.
Advancements in AI, voice, and mixed reality are
bringing this futuristic vision of the in-vehicle experience closer to reality.
Automakers and retailers are looking to capitalize on new tech solutions to
enhance the in-vehicle experience for both drivers and passengers.
In-vehicle tech is also helping mobility service
providers such as Uber and Lyft gain an edge in a highly competitive market. Shared
vehicles — and eventually autonomous vehicles — could evolve into hubs for
immersive entertainment and new channels for retail as the passenger experience
becomes a priority.
In this report, we break down the latest emerging
in-vehicle technologies, how they work, and how they could change how we
interact with cars.

Education
4.0 … the future of learning will be dramatically different, in school and
throughout life.
Global
connectivity, smart machines, and new media are just some of the drivers
reshaping how we think about work, what constitutes work, and how we learn and
develop the skills to work in the future. The concept of a “100 year life”
becoming the norm, and the majority of that spent studying and working, means
that learning will be a lot more important, and different, for the next
generations. Most people will have at least 6 different careers, requiring
fundamental reeducating, whilst the relentless speed of innovation will
constantly demand new skills and knowledge to keep pace, let alone an edge.
The
Nine Pillars of Industry 4.0 - Transforming Industrial Production
Industry
4.0 is the fancy name given to the fourth Industrial revolution. In this
article, we will discuss about what is Industry 4.0 and how is it going to
enhance the future of Industries? Why such a buzz about it? Why failing to
adopt it may kill your business? Let us take a look. It is sometime spelled as
Industrie 4.0, this is the German translation of Industry so both can be used
interchangeably.

Learning to Code is Easy: Here’s How to Teach Yourself
Few skills scare people away like coding. Television
portrayals make it seem like writing computer code is a genius-level activity,
as weird symbols race across the screen and techno music blares in the
background. But the truth is that coding is actually pretty easy.

Open source: The story of the great code giveaway
Open-source software is now so embedded in daily
life, it is difficult to remember a time without it. Even laypeople—non-developers—have
an idea of what it is. Software such as Linux, Struts, Spring, JUnit, Maven,
jQuery, Node, Angular, and React is used not just by Internet companies but the
vast majority of traditional corporations, too. And this has all happened in a
very short period of time.

IFIP WG8.6 Working Conference during 17-19 Dec 2020 at IIM Trichy
The
focus of this event is particularly on understanding the diffusion and adoption
of emerging information technologies and systems (i.e., Artificial
Intelligence, Blockchain, Fintech Applications, Internet of Things, Social
Media), which are expected to have substantial impact on future economic
development of society, organizations and individuals. A review of the role of
information technologies particularly over the past two decades clearly shows
the strong link between technology adoption and social economic development in
many economies. The Gartner report in 2019 lists “Top Strategic Technology”
trends including Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, autonomous things
(Robots, vehicles, drones etc.) among others as the game changers that could
revolutionize industries and their strategic models through 2023.
