IEEE Computer Society, Madras Chapter announces it's Mega ICT Quiz
About the Quiz: The IEEE Computer Society (CS) Madras Chapter is organizing a Mega ICT Quiz in a leadup to the 80th anniversary celebration of IEEE Computer Society which was founded in 1946. The Quiz will cover the Information and Communication Technology history, concepts, developments, trends and current affairs.
Who can participate: Students (College level and School level of 10th grade and above), Researchers, Faculty and Professionals can participate in the Quiz individually.
Pattern of the Quiz
The Quiz will be conducted in four stages. Prelims, Zonal Orals, Semifinal Orals, and Final Orals.
Prelims: The Prelims will be held ONLINE to shortlist the individuals to participate in 10-12 Zonal Orals.
Zonal Orals: 10-12 Zonal Orals will be held in various zonal centres of IEEE Computer Society Madras. Out of these, 10-12 Zonal Orals, ten will be exclusively for the students and two will be exclusively for others. In each Zonal Orals, six individuals, shortlisted in the Online Prelims will participate.
While the tentative zonal centres will be at Chennai (three centres -- OMR, GST Rd, Bgl HW), Vellore, Tiruchengode, Coimbatore, Krishnankoil, Madurai, Trichy, and Chidambaram, the final zonal centres may change depending on the pattern of registrations. If any zonal centre/s is/are dropped, the participants will be required to come to the zonal centre/s allotted to them by the organisers for the Zonal Orals. We have plans to add Hosur and few more centres for Zonal Orals depending on the participant's place of residence. However, for the time being, one can select the nearest centre as the option.
Semifinal Orals: The individuals coming first in each of the Zonal Orals will participate in two Semifinal Orals which will be held in Chennai and in one of the zonal centres to be decided based on the closeness to the place of residence of the toppers.
Final Orals: The top three individuals from each of the two Semifinal Orals will participate in the Final Orals in Chennai. The individuals selected for the Final Orals will be reimbursed travel expenses to the extent of the higher amount of the regular standard bus fare / 2nd class train fare by shortest route from their city of residence to Chennai. They will also be provided a reasonable accommodation for one day.
Prizes
The top three from each Zonal Orals will get cash prizes of Rs. 3000/- Rs. 2500/- Rs. 2000/- and the remaining will get Rs. 500/- each as consolation prize.
The top three of the Semifinal Orals will get cash prizes of Rs. 6000/- Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 4000/- and the remaining will get Rs.1000/- each as consolation prize.
The top three of the Final Orals will get cash prizes of Rs. 10000/-, Rs. 7500/- and Rs. 5000/- and the remaining will get Rs.1000/- each as consolation prize.
There will be additional prizes -- books & free subscriptions to the toppers & 1st runner-ups. Free membership in IEEE and IEEE CS is also proposed to all the student grade participants of the Final Orals.
Certificates
All the participants taking the online Prelims will be given a Certificate of Participation, mentioning the name, institution/organization.
The winners & runners of the Zonal Orals, Semifinal Orals & Final Orals will get Certificate of Appreciation along with the prizes mentioned above.
Tentative Dates
Registrations: 22nd Feb 2025
Online Prelims: by end of Feb 2025
Zonal Orals: before end of Mar 2025
Semifinal Orals & Final Orals: mid Apr 2025
However, we aim to hold all the Orals as early as possible and complete the event at the earliest.

Registration Fee: Rs. 50/- (fifty only) per participant.
A nominal additional payment towards the online platform charges will be applicable.
The online registration is to be done at Explara Platform by entering the required details and making the payment towards the registration fee.

Please note the details entered during the online registration will be used for all communications as well as to generate certificates. Hence, please exercise care while entering the details. Please note that we will not entertain any communication with regard to changes or modifications in the details entered during the online registration.
